‘Daredevil: Born Again’ becomes latest casualty in writers strike

Marvel has suspended production as workers join picket lines for writers’ strike.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise is the latest Hollywood project to be affected by the WGA strike.

Production on ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ has been halted as a result of the ongoing Hollywood writers’ strike.

One causality after another

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ is just the latest show to be affected by the writers’ strike, which began Monday May 1.

Other shows that have been affected as a result of the ongoing labor strike include Apple TV’s ‘Severance’, which shut down production on its second season. Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’, which is currently in production for its fifth and final season, was also delayed, while the upcoming ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off ‘Hedge Knight’ also halted production.

Monday’s picket outside Silvercup East

The Writer’s Guild of America East posted to Twitter on Monday to demonstrate its picket line outside the production house where the film is being made.

The WGA had organized a dawn picket at Silvercup East, where the series was scheduled to film — but employees refused to cross the picket line.

As a result, production stopped Monday at 1 p.m. EST without full filming, though production is scheduled to continue Tuesday, as per Deadline.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ was announced in September 2022 and will premiere on Disney+ sometime in 2024.

The first season, which will be part of Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, will consist of 18 episodes and will have Charlie Cox reprising his role as the title character.

A second season is already planned, according to actor Vincent D’Onofrio.
