David Beckham shares rare smile from Victoria Beckham on her birthday
Posh Spice turned 49 years old on Monday.
A rare moment of Beckham family intimacy was shared on Instagram on Monday, as David Beckham posted a photo of he and his wife smiling at each other to celebrate Victoria’s 49th birthday.
Victoria Beckham, also known as Posh Spice from the Spice Girls, is infamous for her notorious little black Gucci dress and supermodel pout. The singer-turned-entrepreneur has very few public photos of herself baring her pearly whites.

David broke the mold this week however, as he posted a photo of the couple taken years ago. The black and white photo captures a beautiful moment between husband and wife, with David kissing his wife’s nose, and Victoria closing her eyes with a big smile on her face.
“Happy Birthday to the most amazing wife and mummy x someone who inspires us every single day,” the famous soccer player wrote in the caption. “We love you and you deserve to have the most perfect day. Happy Birthday.”
Dropping the “armor”
Though Victoria has a strict no-smiling rule and goes to great lengths to pout rather than smile at cameras, there have been rare occasions when the fashion designer relaxes her face into a big smile.
Beckham told Glamour magazine in 2019 what was behind the pout. The Spice Girl always felt like she had to put on a character or a persona, and eventually her straight face became her “armor”.
The mother-of-three explained to the publication at the time that though she has a long streak of hiding her smile from the cameras, she is ready to try to be more vulnerable — and willing to soften the strict guidelines she had made for herself.
“I want to be honest,” Victoria Beckham said. “In the past, I’ve probably hidden behind my armor – the not smiling publicly, for instance.”
“There’s less of that now,” Beckham revealed.
A laugh behind the frown
Though she usually has a straight face, that doesn’t mean Victoria doesn’t have a sense of humor — especially when it comes to herself.
In 2017, the fashion designer released a tee shirt with text that reads “fashion stole my smile”.
