After six long years, the third instalment of the Deadpool saga is finally upon us, much to the excitement of many a Marvel fan.

When will Deadpool and Wolverine be in US theaters?

Following Deadpool and Deadpool 2, the 2024 sequel, rather than go by Deadpool 3, is officially titled Deadpool and Wolverine, and stars Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson/Deadpool, alongside Hugh Jackson as Logan/Wolverine, as you’d expect from the title.

The movie premiered in New York City on Monday (22 July) and is set to be released in theaters on Friday, 26 July.

With giving too much away, the film initially sees Wilson leading a quieter life, far removed from his past as Deadpool. However, everything changes when an external factor threatens to destroy everything he loves. Faced with this, Wade has to travel to another universe, in search of a alternate version of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) to help him save his world. We’ll leave it there.

The stories of Deadpool and Wolverine are intertwined in a number of different movies, from X-Men Origins: Wolverine, released in 2009, through the upcoming Deadpool and Wolverine.

However, the Deadpool saga technically consists of three movies: Deadpool, Deadpool 2 and now Deadpool and Wolverine.

Deadpool production budgets

As you might imagine, the production budget for each film has risen steadily with time, with the figure for Deadpool and Wolverine more than its two prequels combined.

2016′s Deadpool had a production budget of “just” $58 million, a figure which almost doubled to $110 million for Deadpool 2, released two years later. The six-year gap to Deadpool and Wolverine has seen the price of everything go up across the board, which has resulted in Marvel Studios putting a reported $250 million into the 2024 film.

What is the most expensive movie ever made?

For context, the most expensive movie ever made at the time of writing is Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which cost $447 million to make in 2015. The top 10 most expensive films in history were all made for $300 million or more.
