DiCaprio’s most famous scene in ‘One Battle After Another’ features a major continuity error
Even masterpieces like Paul Thomas Anderson’s can include some errors like these, which can only be noticed if you watch the same footage several times.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s latest film, One Battle After Another, has lived up to the hype. Starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn, Teyana Taylor, and Chase Infiniti, the movie has wowed critics worldwide and quickly emerged as a frontrunner for the upcoming Oscars. Yet eagle-eyed viewers have already spotted a continuity error that’s gone viral online.
The scene that went viral
One of the most talked-about moments comes when DiCaprio, speaking Spanish, whistles to a group of Mexican men who give him directions on the road. The scene drew laughs and highlighted DiCaprio’s versatility, but it also revealed a small but noticeable mistake.
When DiCaprio points and says “¡Para allá!” (“That way!”), he uses his left arm. In the very next cut, however, he’s suddenly gesturing with his right arm — a classic continuity slip that fans couldn’t help but share across social media.

The origin of DiCaprio’s whistle
While the blooper is harmless, it underscores that even Hollywood’s biggest productions aren’t immune to simple errors. More interesting, though, is the backstory behind DiCaprio’s whistle. During a panel discussion, the actor explained that the distinctive whistle came from his own life.
“It started during the pandemic,” DiCaprio said. “That’s how my gardener and I would communicate with each other.”
