‘Disclosure Day’ cast and trailer: What we know about Steven Spielberg’s 4th movie about aliens in contact with humans

The three-time Oscar-winning director returns to the alien genre with one of the most anticipated movies set for 2026.

Aliens, government secrets revealed to the world

Emily Blunt stars as a TV meteorologist caught in a terrifying moment when she suddenly suffers a meltdown live on air while delivering a weather report, overcome by a mysterious extraterrestrial force.

Alongside her, Josh O’Connor plays a character driven by a need to reveal the truth of alien life to the global population. “People have a right to know the truth. You’ wouldn’t believe me if I told you,” he tells the Kansas City weathergirl.

Beyond Blunt and O’Connor, the film boasts a formidable ensemble cast including Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes. Produced by Spielberg and Kristie Macosko Krieger, ‘Disclosure Day’ promises to be a definitive theatrical experience when it arrives next summer.

The movie marks the legendary director’s return to the alien genre that defined much of his career, reuniting with screenwriter David Koepp—the scribe behind blockbusters like ‘Jurassic Park’ and ‘War of the Worlds’—Spielberg appears ready to deliver another massive summer event.

Disclosure Day’ also represents a major milestone, serving as the 37th feature film Spielberg has directed since his debut, 1964’s ‘Firelight’, which was also a science fiction story.

With a resume that includes ‘E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial’ (1982), ‘Close Encounters of the Third Kind’ (1979) and ‘Minority Report’ (2002), the expectations for his take on modern sci-fi are incredibly high. The director, whose filmography has grossed over $10 billion worldwide, continues to prove he is a dominant force in theatrical entertainment.

The movie is scheduled to go on general release on June 12, 2026.
