Does Oprah think Prince Harry, Meghan Markle should attend the coronation?
Oprah Winfrey shared her thoughts on the matter, though she made it clear she hasn’t spoken to the couple about their coronation plans.
King Charles’ coronation will take place on May 6, and much of the talk leading up to the event has focused on whether Prince Harry and wife Meghan Markel will be in attendance.
The couple have officially been invited to the event, and while they haven’t confirmed whether they are going, Buckingham Palace is taking the couple into consideration for program planning and seating arrangements.
Either way, the Sussexes and the coronation remain a huge talking point, with Oprah Winfrey even weighing in on the matter.
Does Oprah think Prince Harry and Meghan should go to the coronation?
Oprah sat down with friend Gayle King on a recent episode of ‘CBC Mornings’, and she was asked to give her thoughts on whether Harry and Meghan should go to the coronation.
“I think they should do what they feel is best for them and their family. That’s what I think,” said Winfrey.
“That’s what the bottom line comes down to: ‘What do you feel like is the right thing for you?’”
She also added that she hasn’t spoken to the couple about the coronation: “They haven’t asked me my opinion.”
Oprah has been supportive of Harry and Meghan in the past
Winfrey was a guest at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s wedding back in 2018. The couple later sat down with the TV mogul for an explosive interview in 2021 in which they discussed their decision to leave the royal family a year earlier.
This came after Oprah stated she supported Harry and Meghan’s decision.
“I support them 1,000 percent,” Winfrey told TMZ. “You know why I support them? I support them because I believe, when you have thought about this as long as they have — and even in the Queen’s statement [she] says, ‘This has been going on for months,’ these discussions have been going on for months — and when Harry said in that charity statement the other day [that] he had to make the decision to move forward in peace with his new family, who doesn’t feel what that takes to make that decision to give up everything you’ve known your whole life to say I’m going to choose this new life or what I believe to be the truest vision for myself?”
