Legendary singer Dolly Parton has revealed that her upcoming new album will feature a host of big name stars including the likes of Paul McCartney, Stevie Nicks, Elton John, and the star’s goddaughter, Miley Cyrus.

The album, titled ‘Rock Star’ is the first rock n’ roll album the country singer has ever recorded, and it’s rumored it could be released as early as autumn of this year.

“If I’m ever going to do a rock n’ roll album, which I often dreamed someday I might, the time is now,” Parton declared to Rachel Ray in an interview on Tuesday.

The star spilled everything fans need to know about her upcoming album when she appeared on the show, and also confessed that she wasn’t sure she was a rock star but wasn’t about to “let an opportunity go by” to find out.

“It’s kind of tongue-in-cheek, it’s called ‘Rock Star’,” the 77-year-old singer quipped in the interview.

Once she realized she wanted to make a rock n’ roll album, the international icon, who has sold over a hundred million albums, said she “reached out to a lot of the friends who were on the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame” to see who would be interested in recording on the album.

Who will feature on Dolly Parton’s new album

Dolly Parton divulged that ‘Rock Star’ is saturated with heavy-hitting names in the music business, not least of them Paul McCartney of the Beatles, who the star said “sang with me on ‘Let It Be’.”

“I’ve got a lot of wonderful iconic songs that people love and wonderful iconic singers joining me on them,” Parton said, mentioning several of the “iconic singers” featured on her album, including Stevie Nicks, Elton John, Joan Jett, and Cyndi Lauper.

When asked if goddaughter Miley Cyrus will be on the album, Parton confirmed, “We’re definitely going to have her on”.

Other big names joining Dolly Parton on ‘Rock Star’ are Annie Lennox, Steven Tyler, Steve Perry, and John Fogerty, as well as Pink and Brandi Carlile, as she revealed earlier on the View.

She is hoping to get Cher, Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, and Mick Jagger on the album, but so far to no avail.
