‘Euphoria’ Season 3 to be delayed until 2025

HBO announced that numerous other series may be delayed until 2025.

Update:
HBO announced that numerous other series may be delayed until 2025.

Fans awaiting Season 3 of both ‘Euphoria’ and ‘The White Lotus’ may have to wait a bit longer than expected.

HBO has recently announced that both shows will have long wait times before new episodes will be streamed.

A number of factors have contributed to the shows’ delays, and both are affected by the ongoing Writer’s Guild strike.

‘Euphoria’ is also delayed due to Zendaya’s busy filming schedule. The actress plays Ruby ‘Rue’ Bennett, the main character who deals with ongoing drug addiction and other mental health issues.

‘Euphoria’ creator Sam Levinson has also been busy working on his new series, ‘The Idol’, starring Abel Tesfaye and Lily-Rose Depp.

A number of series delayed until 2025

“We are really proud of the exciting return of ‘The Last of Us’, ‘House of the Dragon’, ‘White Lotus’, ‘Euphoria’ and not to mention ‘The Sympathizer’, ‘The Regime’, ‘True Detective’, and ‘The Idol’,” said Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President and Head of the Drama Original Programming at HBO.

“While everything at this moment is pencils down, I’m hopeful that we can come to terms sooner than later. Otherwise we will have to assess what is the end of the 24 schedule, what are the shows that are going to be delivered for 2025,” she explained.

“At this point, those shows that I’m looking to air wouldn’t necessarily be ready if this strike last six to nine months. So yes, that’s a big question for us, but I think we’ll cross that road once we come to it.”

On ‘Euphoria’ she says the issue is the lack of finished scripts to work with.

“Euphoria is one of those that we had begun writing in tandem with post-production on Idol but at this point, we don’t have countless scripts.

We can’t start shooting, so the delivery of that show — ideally in 2025 — will be determined on when we can pick back up with Sam, who at this point is all pencils down and just finishing posts on Idol.”

Prior to the strike, which began on May 1, Orsi says that she’s been working through “hundreds and hundreds of scripts”.

“[It] hasn’t quite been a quiet time. The last couple of weeks have been mired in so much material that I’m working on and getting through.”
