The A-List couple met on the set of their 2013 film, where Mendes played the mother of Gosling’s child.
Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling are celebrating 10 years together since they met on the set of their 2013 film, ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’, and Mendes took to social media to commemorate the special anniversary.
The celebrity couple quietly got married shortly after they met and share two children, Esmeralda, who is eight years old, and six-year-old Amada. The couple were recently in Cuba, Mendes native country, on holiday.
Remembering where it all began
The 49-year-old actress posted a photograph from the movie, which Gosling’s character always kept on him in the film, to Instagram alongside a nostalgic message acknowledging the anniversary.
“Luke & Romina,” Mendes wrote in the caption alongside two heart emoticons, referencing their characters’ names from the movie. “Mi socia @scondito just sent me this telling me it’s been 10 years since this film came out.”
“Feels like lifetimes ago,” the actress added.
What is ‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ about?
‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ stars Ryan Gosling as stunt-rider Luke, Eva Mendes as his love interest, Romina, and Bradley Cooper as the cop out to get him, Avery.
Luke is a talented but troubled and daring carnival motorcycle racer who recklessly “drives out of a traveling carnival globe of death and whizzes through the backstreets of Schenectady, New York, desperately trying to connect with a former lover, Romina, (Eva Mendes) who recently and secretly gave birth to the stunt rider’s son,” as per IMDb.
When Gosling’s character learns he will be a father, he knows he must provide for his family, and seeing no other way, abandons the carnival gig and embarks on a life of crime — his incredible stunt riding skills make him an effective bank robber.
Enter Bradley Cooper’s character, Avery the ambitious police officer, who pledges to catch the thief and rise up the ranks of the NYPD.
“The sweeping drama unfolds over fifteen years as the sins of the past haunt the present days lives of two high school boys wrestling with the legacy they’ve inherited. The only refuge is found in the place beyond the pines,” the synopsis concludes.
