On Tuesday, Drew Barrymore invited her ‘Ever After’ costars Melanie Lynskey and Megan Dodds to her talk show in honor of the movie’s 25th anniversary, which was released in 1998.

The women dressed in character, wearing the same costumes from the movie. Barrymore was emotional at the reunion between the three women, and they talked about their time on set and revealed funny anecdotes that happened during their time filming in France.

Reminiscing on the past

“You know what, it’s not even a show. We’re just here in a time machine back 25 years ago because it’s the 25th anniversary of ‘Ever After,’” Barrymore said introducing the episode. In the movie, Barrymore played Danielle, a character based on Cinderella, with Lynskey and Dodds playing her evil stepsisters.

“I literally can’t even believe that I get to be here with my sisters - my stepsisters.”

Throughout the interview, it was revealed that Lynskey and Dodds had lived together while filming the movie.

“It was fantastic,” Dodds said of the time. “We had our own little car that we tooled around in that I think we crashed at one point.”

Lynskey added, “We were trying to get somebody to help us and [Dodds] went up to a man and you were saying in French, ‘Vous avez un problème’ — instead of ‘Nous avons un problème’ — but we were in such a panic.

During their time living together, the pair also revealed that one day they decided to take topless photos of each other in the French countryside.

“I don’t know what I was thinking at the time,” Dodds began to explain. “It was just like, ‘Oh, this would be really groovy to do: Let’s go take topless photos in the cornfields.”

“By the way, this was like, day three of knowing each other,” Lynskey said, causing the women to laugh.

How Barrymore got Anjelica Huston in ‘Ever After’

Speaking about ‘Ever After’, Barrymore explained how she convinced Anjelica Huston to play the role of Danielle’s evil stepmother, Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent, by using their family’s past connection to sway her.

“I got her on the phone somehow and I said, ‘You know what, for your dad, John Huston, and my grandfather, John Barrymore, who you know partied here on Earth and are somewhere up in heaven keeping it going, Barrymore Huston, Huston Barrymore, we’ve got to do this,’” Barrymore recalled.

“‘Just for the men in our lives who have set such a tone for what we’re supposed to be doing here on Earth, let’s honor those two men by being these two women together. Are you with me?’ and well, she did the film.”
