Update:

Viewers of American Idol on April 27 were the first to discover the identities of the 2025 inductees of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, the illustrious collection of music icons.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame was established in 1983 and many of the most iconic names in rock music history have since been admitted to its hallowed corridors. Earlier this year a list of 14 potential inductees were announced, from which a final cut of seven names were picked to enter the RRHOF. Here are those names...

Rock & Roll Hall of Fame: 2025 inductees

  • Bad Company
  • Chubby Checker
  • Joe Cocker
  • Cyndi Lauper
  • Outkast
  • Soundgarden
  • The White Stripes

This year’s list paid tribute to some more unconventional rock figures, included Atlanta hip-hop frontrunners Outkast. In previous years the inductee list has feature more traditionally ‘rock’ groups and individuals.

Outkast are one of seven artists who will officially be honored during an induction ceremony held on November 8, 2025 at the Peacock Theater, Los Angeles. The show will be streamed live on Disney+ and will be available to view on Hulu the following day. US Today reports that a cut-down version will subsequently be aired on ABC, but the release date has not been announced.

Who was not inducted from the 2025 list?

This year’s inductee list honors some big names but there are also a number of much-loved acts omitted from the final cut. Mariah Carey, Oasis and Joy Division/New Order each received their second nominations in 2025 but they were all overlooked once again.

This year’s list of first-time nominees includes The Black Crowes, Billy Idol, Mana and Phish.

Artists nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame must have been recording for at least 25 years before they are eligible for admission. The RRHOF receives votes from more than 1,200 voting members each year, comprising artists, musical historians and other members of the music industry.
