Experts weigh in on the Cruise and de Armas rumors: “The fact that he was seen publicly with Ana is a huge deal”

Actors Tom Cruise and Ana de Armas have been spotted together in London twice in the last two months, sparking rumors that there may be a romance going on between the two.

The first time they were seen together was in London’s Soho neighborhood the night before Valentine’s Day as de Armas looked to be carrying a takeout order. They stopped for photos with fans before leaving in a taxi together.

The second time they were spotted together was on the night of March 14 when they landed together at the London Heliport by helicopter.

According to a source who spoke with People magazine, the two met the first time to "discuss potential collaborations down the line", and the second time to collaborate on an upcoming project, as director Doug Liman was also with them. The source said that the two “appeared to have no romantic connection” and were “just friends”.

Celebrity matchmaker Alessandra Conti spoke with Fox News, expressing skepticism about the relationship between de Armas and Cruise being strictly platonic. And despite the age gap (Cruise is 62, de Armas is 36), Conti says the two would actually be a great match.

Conti noted that Cruise has been private about his personal life ever since his highly publicized divorces from Katie Holmes, Mimi Rogers, and Nicole Kidman. She said that the fact that he and de Armas were spotted together in public may indicate he’s ready to be in a relationship with a public figure again, while keeping it as lowkey as possible.

“The fact that he was seen publicly with Ana is a huge deal,” Conti said. “My celebrity clients know exactly how to keep their love lives under wraps if that is their desire. So, this is a clear indicator that he is feeling secure about the potential of this romance, though sources are saying that it is merely because they are in a film together.”

Conti, as well as Damona Hoffman of “The Dates & Mates”, both pointed out several reasons why Cruise and de Armas would be compatible, such as their shared passion for action films, driven personalities, and similar work ethics.

“Even if they are simply working together, as a celebrity matchmaker, I believe this couple is incredibly compatible for a number of reasons and do think that this could be a lasting Hollywood match if they give it a chance to blossom,“ said Conti.

In 2023, de Armas praised Tom Cruise for doing his own stunts, calling him “mind-blowing”, and saying she is “not at a Tom Cruise level yet” with her own stunts in action movies.

Conti pointed out that the two both come from humble beginnings in Hollywood, with de Armas, who is originally from Cuba, overcoming the challenge of breaking into the English-language film industry.

“Unlike many of the stars in this generation, Tom is not a nepo-baby and built his career for himself without the help of famous parents,” she said.

However, de Armas’s desire for privacy and her past decision to leave Hollywood due to the scrutiny of her relationships may pose challenges for a romance with Cruise, who is often in the spotlight. Hoffman also pointed out that their different beliefs - particularly Cruise’s devotion to Scientology - could also create friction.

Despite these obstacles, Conti believes that Cruise might be “the one” for de Armas, suggesting that the 26-year age gap between them, though notable, may not be an issue in Hollywood.

“This is Hollywood, and while civilians may raise their eyebrows at a 26-year age gap, this is par for the course here,” said Conti. “Ana clearly is mature, and at 36 years old, her frontal lobe has been developed, so I am in support.”

“As a matchmaker, I truly am rooting for Tom to find love and finally have his happily ever after.”
