F1 releases new music track with will.i.am and Lil Wayne
Will.i.am has released a song with Lil Wayne as part of Formula 1′s special music tracks in 2023.
Formula 1 continues to amp up its American presence, as the series has released new music with will.i.am and Lil Wayne.
This comes after F1 teamed up with Brad Pitt to make a racing movie about a veteran driver who comes out of retirement to coach a rising star. Pitt is set to hit the track at the 2023 British Grand Prix this summer as part of filming.
F1 breaking the mold
“It’s exciting to bring my passions - performance car racing and music - together in this groundbreaking partnership,” will.i.am stated in a press release about his participation with Formula 1.
“Our goal is to break the traditional mold of music and racing, creating unforgettable experiences that introduce new fans to the excitement of F1 and showcasing the world’s best artists and performers.”
The new F1 song
Since the arrival of Liberty Media as owners of the series, F1 has expanded its presence in the United States. The series now has three races in the country - the Miami Grand Prix, the United States Grand Prix in Austin, Texas and the Las Vegas Grand Prix from Las Vegas.
It marks the first time the series has held three races in the country in the same season since 1982.
That presence continues to grow off the track as well, with Black Eyed Peas frontman, will.i.am, teaming up with Lil Wayne to create the song ‘The Formula’.
The song was created specifically for this past weekend’s Miami Grand Prix — and already has over two million views. It features fast-paced beats mixed with the sounds of Formula 1 cars.
During the promotional video, audiences can see single-seaters from the top category such as Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari, and Aston Martin.
“This is my recipe, watch me go full speed, go full capacity, I’ve got energy...My skill is zooming through the neighborhood,” the Black Eyed Peas member sings.
The duo go on to sing about racing using keywords like “fast lane”, “godspeed”, “victory lane”, and “got champagne” as they mix referencing elements of motorsports.
