Fans frustrated as resale platforms already offer Oasis tickets with hefty markup

It was a morning of mixed emotions for Oasis fans across the planet as tickets for the 2025 reunion tour sold out in a matter of hours with many fans eager to see the band play live complaining of technical issues and long online waits that often ended in disappointment.

Fans trying to access the three websites selling the tickets — Ticketmaster, See Tickets and Gigsandtours — reported issues including error messages and being ejected before they could purchase tickets.

Since announcing the reunion dates, interest in the band has increased as fans, old and new clamour for tickets with the Manchester band’s music enjoying a 160% surge on Spotify.

Mixed emotions

It was expected that more than a million tickets for the band’s gigs would sell out within minutes with BBC’s Dan Walker one of the frustrated fans as he took to X stating: “There has got to be a fairer, simpler, more efficient way of selling tickets. “In the queue, out of the queue, refresh / don’t refresh, wait in line, back of the line.”

The Ticketmaster portal featured four areas where fans were channeled after being given a unique queue id: the lobby, waiting room, queue and shop with many undertaking hours of virtual queuing only to confronted with the message ‘tickets are sold out’.

Oasis announced 17 shows in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with the first due to take place in Cardiff in July 2025, followed by nights in Manchester – where the band was formed in 1991 – London, Edinburgh and Dublin.

The band are anticipated to announce further shows ‘outside’ Europe for the latter part of 2025 with many US fans anxious to see the reunited Gallagher brothers back on US soil.

The 2025 shows are expected to provide a multi-million pound boost for Britain and Ireland’s hospitality sectors and many fans are now furious with some tickets already being listed on resale sites such as Viagogo for as much as 8,000 pounds ($10,500).
