The high drama series, ‘Succession’, is a family story of inheritance, love, and betrayal. Since its first season, the series has been praised by critics and fans alike for its raw and thrilling writing.

With the fourth and final season of ‘Succession’ underway, fans have been gearing up weekly to turn into their Sunday night episode on HBO. However, the series took a dramatic turn in the third episode which many were not expecting.

What happened in ‘Connor’s Wedding’?

The episode begins on the day of Connor and Willa’s wedding in New York. While the couple prepares, Logan leaves for Sweden with Tom and the rest of his senior cadre excluding Gerri, to negotiate with Matsson.

Gerri is left out as Logan fired her for her perceived mishandling of the fallout from the cruises scandals, and he tasks Roman with delivering her the news at the wedding later. The siblings soon discover from Tom that Logan collapsed on the plane and is unresponsive, and it gradually becomes clear Logan is not going to survive.

Logan’s plane is turned around so he can be pronounced dead upon landing, while the siblings attempt to say their goodbyes over the phone, unsure if Logan can hear them. Connor and Willa eventually go through with the small ceremony.

All the while Kendall, Shiv, and Roman head to the airport to receive their father’s body and issue a statement to the press.

Audience’s reaction

Shortly after the episode aired, devoted and shocked fans took to Twitter to voice their reactions to the major plot twist. Many praised the writers for their subtle clues in the season’s promo and HBO’s weekly episode format.

One user pointed out that the promotional shot for the final seasons features a plane in the window reflecting, foreshadowing the events to come.

Another user explained how they favor a weekly episode release model over the typical binge full-season release seen with streaming services today.

Several other users praised Sarah Snook who plays Siobhan “Shiv” Roy and her ability to act.
