The ‘White Lotus’ actress Aubrey Plaza gained quite a bit of social media attention Sunday night when she appeared to look visibly annoyed on stage during the 29th annual SAG Award ceremony.

Speculation about Plaza began soon after she was spotted on stage with the rest of her HBO cast members to accept the award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble on a Drama Series for Season 2 of ‘White Lotus.’

On stage interactions

While co-star F. Murray Abraham delivered a speech on behalf of the cast which ended with a prayer for peace in Ukraine and Russia, Plaza appears to mutter something and looks incredibly annoyed, which got fans speculating.

It also appears that moments before the speech, Plaza’s costar Jon Gries whispers something in her ear, and Plaza quickly adjusts her dress soon after. Fans speculated that Gries was likely warning Plaza about a potential wardrobe malfunction.

TikTok user Riristea breaks down the entire incident moment by moment, along with fan theories, in a video. She explains that Plaza seems to mutter “Jesus Christ” and fans are confused about whether her reaction was because of Abraham’s speech or other on-stage factors.

Fans took to the comments of the post to defend the actress and spill their theories on the exchange.

“She almost got elbowed and was being shoved in the back the whole time, put two and two together,” one user wrote, amassing 2005 likes on the comment.

“It’s like no one in this video has ever seen Aubrey Plaza. That’s her entire personality 100% of the time,” another user wrote, this time with over 5,400 likes in support.

Other moments from the night

Despite the on-stage annoyance, it seems Plaza had a good time at the award show. She was photographed photo-bombing former ‘Parks and Recreation’ costars later that night, and also shared a humorous moment with ‘Wednesday’ star Jenna Ortega while presenting an award together.

Amy Poehler and Adam Scott starred alongside Aubrey Plaza in the 2009 sitcom ‘Parks and Recreation.’ The three of them acted in the show’s seven successful seasons before the final episode aired in 2015.

Ortega and Plaza joke about how they have “nothing in common” before announcing the nominees for Male Actor in a Television show or limited series.
