Fernando Alonso adds fuel to Taylor Swift dating rumors
Fernando Alonso continues to have fun with claims he is dating Taylor Swift.
Ever since dating rumors involving Fernando Alonso and Taylor Swift emerged, the Formula 1 star hasn’t shied away from poking fun at them.
That trend continued over the weekend as the Spaniard was gearing up for the next stop in the F1 season, the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
Alonso posted a video to his TikTok account showing him preparing for the action by lifting weights.
“Im lifting 22′s,” he captioned the video, which was set to Swift’s song, ‘22′. In order to drive home the point, Alonso ended the video by winking at the camera, showing that he’s in on the joke at this point.
F1 commentator has fun with Swift/Alonso rumors
Alonso wasn’t the only person to have fun with the dating rumors over the weekend.
Sky Sports F1 commentators David Croft and Karun Chandhok couldn’t help but make a number of references to the singer during qualifying.
During the session, Croft praised Alonso for a “swift drive” and joked that it was as if he was driving a getaway car, a reference to Swift’s song from her 2017 album ‘Reputation’.
Croft didn’t stop there, joking that Alonso was “looking for that blank space”.
Chandhok then got in on the fun by stating that, “Alonso’s found a bit of blank space there ahead of him...with Lewis Hamilton half a straight ahead.”
He then added that “at least he can say ‘don’t blame me, it’s a car issue’”, another reference to another Swift song, ‘Don’t Blame Me’, which is also from her ‘Reputation’ album.
The jokes didn’t stop there however, as Croft said: “Maybe that’s Alonso’s style and maybe at the end they’ll say ‘would’ve, could’ve, should’ve”, a reference to Swift’s 2015 song ‘Style’ and 2022 track ‘Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve’.
Croft ended his run of jokes by referencing ‘Mastermind’ and ‘22′, joking that the latter was “of course now our favorite song and number’.
As for Alonso, he dodged questions about Swift. When the Spaniard spoke to Sky Sports in the paddock, a reporter said “I knew you were trouble” as their opening line.
That got Alonso chuckling, though he was quick to keep the focus on the Azerbaijan Grand Prix: “I am just focused on Baku, and racing. Let’s see.”
