Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton ends Shakira relationship links at the British Grand Prix
The Colombian singer wasn’t allowed access to the Mercedes camp at Silverstone after the pair had been spotted together previously.
Shakira has been romantically linked with a number of different celebrities in recent months, including Alejandro Sanz, Tom Cruise and Jimmy Butler. But the strongest rumours have hinted at a possible relationship with Lewis Hamilton, the seven-time Formula 1 world champion. The pair met at the Miami Grand Prix after the Colombian star was invited to attend as a guest of Mercedes’, the team Hamilton drives for. And tongues started wagging soon after when they were spotted having dinner with mutual friends and then boarding a yacht together.
Hamilton “backs off” after Shakira advances
The speculation intensified further a month later when Shakira and Hamilton were again snapped alongside one another in a Japanese restaurant after the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. And, according to Spanish podcast Mamarazzis, the singer did want to “get closer” to the Englishman, who took the decision to back off.
“He’s annoyed because she wants everyone to believe they are in a relationship,” claim journalists Laura Fa and Lorena Vázquez, who co-host Mamarazzis. The duo revealed that Hamilton had nothing to do with the pair’s first encounter and that it was, in fact, Mercedes who invited Shakira along to meet their driver in Miami. Being seen together boosted the image of both and they agreed to spend time in each other’s company again in Barcelona as a result. “A very good source has told us that she is the one who wanted to meet again”.
Colombian kept out of Mercedes camp at Silverstone
While things seemed as if they were heading in a certain direction from the outside, on the inside, Hamilton turned down the chance to meet with Shakira for a third time at the British Grand Prix earlier this month. The 38-year-old, who has won at Silverstone eight times, instructed Mercedes not to let the South America star into their camp for the event to ensure his concentration wouldn’t be disrupted.
Hamilton is said to be disappointed by Shakira’s apparent desire to lead people into thinking that there really is something going on between them and has taken drastic measures to put an end to the speculation. The Formula 1 champ was seen partying with the Colombian - and others - in London following the British Grand Prix, but has since been snapped with Norwegian tennis player Jenny Stray Spetalen and Mexican actress Eiza González on a yacht in Ibiza.
