Gina Rodriguez and her Husband Joe LoCicero have welcomed their first child together, as revealed by her agent Sunday on Today.com.

The actress first announced her pregnancy on July 30, 2022, which was also the date of her 38th birthday, in an Instagram reel that included sweet pictures and video clips of the actress and her husband, ending with a picture of a positive pregnancy test result.

Rodriguez and LoCicero welcome a baby boy

On Sunday, it was announced that Rodriguez has given birth to a baby boy, confirmed by her agent, according to People.

I’m very excited and overwhelmed and feel like a superwoman,” the actress told People last August.

“I feel like every day is bizarre and different, and I have so much appreciation for every human being that has brought a child onto this planet. Anytime I see somebody with a child, I’m like, ‘Congratulations, you’re a superhero.’”

The actress has played a mother on numerous occasions, including on ‘Jane the Virgin’ where she played the titular character Jane in the Netflix satirical telenovela. Most recently in the live-action/computer-animated series ‘Lost Ollie’ on Netflix she played the character Momma.

“I think about my own journey I’m about to go on, and how much I want to ignite my child’s imagination and never take it away,” she said of the role.

“I want to allow my child to live in those spaces, while also living in our culture that is real and of the flesh, and you have to play by certain rules. But how do you still keep that? As an actor, I get so lucky because I get to play. That’s what my job is, is I get to always live in imagination.

Preparing for their first child

Her husband, whom she met on the set of ‘Jane the Virgin’ in 2016, is also looking to take an active role in their child’s life from the very first moment the infant takes his first breath.

“He’s just magical,” Rodriguez told Today. “He’s definitely the better half, so I’m hoping that he’ll just go on in there and pull our baby.

LoCicero has been “training” to be his wife’s doula by watching birthing videos, and Rodriguez herself has been preparing for the big day by taking “hardcore prenatal classes” by focusing on strengthening the pelvic floor muscles prior to giving birth.

The couple tied the knot in 2019, and last May they celebrated three happy years together. Rodriguez commemorated their anniversary with an Instagram post, calling LoCicero her home.
