‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3′: best Marvel movie since ‘Endgame’?

The early reviews for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3′ are in and it looks like fans have reason to be excited.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3′ won’t hit theaters until May 5, 2023, but the first reactions from those who have seen it are starting to trickle in.

The movie is part of Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and focuses on Rocket Raccoon (Bradley Cooper) and his past, as well as the group adjusting to life on Knowhere.

It’s expected to be a farewell to the team as we know it, which burst onto the scene as a relative unknown entity prior to the 2014 hit ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’.

The film was a critical and commercial success, grossing $773.3 million worldwide and becoming the third-highest-grossing film of 2014.

The film is also a goodbye for director James Gunn, who accepted an offer from Warner Bros. Discovery to reboot the DC superhero universe as head of DC Studios with Peter Safran.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3′: best Marvel movie since ‘Endgame’?

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3′ had a special European gala at Disneyland Paris on April 22, giving the chance for critics and fans to get an early look at the film.

Valentina Morillo of El Espanol called it the “best Marvel movie since ‘Endgame’”, with film critic Matias Rebolledo echoing that sentiment.

Critic Emil Franchi says that the newest entry completes the perfect trilogy for the MCU, writing: “After seeing it twice I can safely say #GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3 completes the perfect MCU trilogy. It’s heartbreaking and hilarious and I’ve loved this team from the first ooga shaka. A blast for 10 years.”

Moviezine’s Alexander Kardelo credited the film for sticking true to what it’s been, while praising Rocket’s origin story: “#GuardiansOfTheGalaxyVol3 is, more than ever, Star Wars as a stoner comedy. Lovable weirdos, big Marvel action and goofy jokes. But nothing can prepare you for all the emotions. Rocket Raccoon’s origin story is beautiful and heart-wrenching.”

Lily la Fourmi said she found the film left her heart feeling “full and broken”, while Joe.ie’s Rory Cashin said he even shed a tear, adding that he would happily watch an Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) solo movie.

Finally, Jeux Actu’s Maxime Chao noted that while the film still has its fair share of comedy, it is the darkest of the three ‘Guardian of the Galaxy’ films.

All the big names are returning for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3′

Fans hoping to see all of their favourite characters will still get to see Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana), though they are still trying to navigate the fact she is a version from a different timeline than the one that was romantically involved with Quill and killed by Thanos.

The film also sees Dave Bautista return as Drax the Destroyer, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Pom Klementieff as Mantis, Vin Diesel as Groot, Sean Gunn as Kraglin Obfonteri and Sylvester Stallone as Stakar Ogord.
