As the litigation between Dr. Terry Sanderson and Gwyneth Paltrow drags on, nearly 7 years after the incident, depositions from her children are read out loud as they were unable to testify in person due to schedule conflicts.

The Goop founder’s children, daughter Apple, age 18, and son Moses, age 16, shared with father and ex-husband Chris Martin, support their mother with their statements given verbatim by attorney Stephen Owens.

Depositions from the children

Moses recalled “briefly seeing the collision,” according to his deposition. “I recognized the equipment she was wearing because I know what she wears when she skis, and then I realized it was my mom. So I was standing around, and I realized it was my mother,” he says. “When I skied over, I heard my mom yelling at the guy. She was saying something along the lines of, ‘What the F-word? You just ran into me.’”

Although daughter Apple did not see the incident, she remembers asking her mother what had happened later that day at the restaurant.

“I noticed she looked a bit shocked, and I asked what had happened, and she said, ‘This A-hole ran into me. He ran right into my back.’ And I remember she did this motion saying he ran into her back, and they both went down. I remember that’s what she said.”

She continues, “I had never seen my mom shaken up like that, and she was very clearly visibly upset, and she had some sort of pain. She was in a little bit of pain, and I remember that’s why she went to the spa to get a massage.”

What happened since the original lawsuit

“Gwyneth Paltrow skied out of control and hit the back of Terry Sanderson, another skier, who was downhill, knocking him down hard, knocking him out, and causing a brain injury, four broken ribs and other serious injuries,” court documents stated.

Dr. Terry Sanderson filed a lawsuit against Paltrow seeking more than $3.1 million in damages. A judge dismissed the eye doctor’s original claim and removed the Utah Resort and Paltrow’s instructor from the suit. However, the judge did allow the suit to go forward as a $300K claim instead of the original $3.1 million.

“This lawsuit is completely without merit and we expect to be vindicated.” Paltrow said to Us in January 2019 before filing her own countersuit for $1 in damages.
