This isn’t the first time Gwyneth has been in the spotlight over pseudo-scientific practices and promoting disordered behavior in wellness culture.

In her latest interview for ‘The Art of Being Well’ Podcast, she was asked to describe her daily routine, leaving viewers with questions on whether it could be a sustainable diet for anyone at all.

Tik tokers and anti-diet dieticians are calling it disordered, and it’s obvious why. She explains how she starts her day with intermittent fasting.

“I eat dinner early in the evening,” she said. “I do a nice intermittent fast.”

What is Intermittent fasting?

Intermittent fasting could be seen as a bonafide term for intermittent starvation. Those who work to dismantle diet culture see it as an excuse to exhibit disordered eating behaviors under the guise of wellness.

She goes on to tell the audience how she then starts her day with a coffee to make sure her blood sugar stays regulated, and often a bone broth soup for lunch. There was widespread concern and backlash as broth soup is hardly a meal, and coffee is far from the ideal food to break a fast.

What do the experts say about Intermittent Fasting?

Lauren Cadillac, a registered dietitian with over 60,000 TikTok followers, weighed in on the conversation of Paltrow’s interview, noting it severely lacks the key nutrients for a healthy diet.

Over 1.4 million users have now viewed the clip with over 18k comments and 14k reshares, it seems people are concerned about the star’s restrictive lifestyle.

Tik tokers even went as far as to call her the ‘ultimate almond mom’, a term coined for parents who perpetuate obsessive and disordered eating.

The most reasonable part might be her use of the infrared sauna for 30 minutes and exercise for an hour. “It’s really important for me to support my detox,” Paltrow says.
