While Deadpool and Wolverine was packed with some great cameos, many of which were sure to bring a tear to the eye of the nostalgic among us, there were also some notable absences. One of them is Halle Berry, who played Ororo Munroe/Storm in the original X-Men trilogy as well as X-Men: Days of Future Past, and who has revealed the simple reason why she doesn’t appear in Marvel Studios’ recent smash hit.

Despite the presence of several characters from Marvel’s pre-MCU filmography, such as Blade, Gambit and Elektra, Storm is one of the most notable absences. So what does Berry have to say about it?

“Blake [Lively] asked me one time. at a Marc I ran into her at a Marc Jacobs fashion show, and she said, ‘Would you ever be in my husband’s movie as Storm? ’” she reveals, confirming that there was at least one approach from Ryan Reynolds’ wife. “I said, ‘Yeah, if he asked me,’ but he never asked me..”

Which version of Pyro is from ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’?

Meanwhile, Aaron Stanford, who plays Pyro in the X-Patrol films, and who in Deadpool and Wolverine is part of Cassandra Nova’s army in The Void, has confirmed that the Pyro in this version is the same as in the previous productions.

“I just took it as a continuation but again, with an adjustment for tone. Basically what I did was reach back and think this was the Pyro from X-Men 2,’” Stanford explains. “The idea behind that character was that he was a young, disaffected, and outcast kid who becomes radicalized. He becomes a radicalized terrorist and we see that journey. I took that interesting, complete portrait and then adjusted it for the Deadpool universe and the given circumstances of that world”.

There were also rumors that Taylor Swift could make a cameo appearance as Dazzler, which were dismissed by director Shawn Levy.“I definitely had moments where I was worried I would disappoint people when they realized Taylor as Dazzler was not in the movie, but there’s no controlling the internet, and rumors spread like wildfire. It was never a conversation. It was never even a seed of a discussion. Obviously, Ryan and Blake and myself, to a far lesser extent, have our own relationships in real life with Taylor. But, yeah, those rumors were loud and slightly baffling, but nothing I said or did was going to make them quiet down until this movie came out.”

Deadpool and Wolverine is currently in theaters, and recently surpassed $1 billion at the box office.
