Almost 30 years after the release of ‘Happy Gilmore,’ which debuted in theaters on February 16, 1996, filming is about to begin on a sequel, with Adam Sandler returning as the failed hockey player turned unorthodox golfer. And you - yes, you - could star alongside him.

What do we know about ‘Happy Gilmore 2′?

Netflix confirmed in May that ‘Happy Gilmore 2′ would be getting made before too much longer, although details are scarce. As it stands, we don’t know when it will be getting released, or many details about the plot.

Thanks to NJ.com, however, we do know that shooting will be taking place between September and November in New Jersey, specifically in Bergen, Essex, Monmouth, Morris and Somerset counties, and that local extras are very much in demand.

Interested, in the area, but don’t have any previous acting experience? Not to worry, none is required.

Where and when is the open casting call for ‘Happy Gilmore 2′? How much do extras get paid?

All you need to do to have a chance of becoming a Hollywood star is head along to the plaza ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Morristown (3 Speedwell Ave., Morristown), where an open casting call will be taking place on Tuesday, August 20 between 1:00 p.m and 8:00 p.m. ET.

According to Grant Wilfley Casting Agency, extras will be paid $216 for eight hours of work if they are SAG-AFTRA members, with non SAG-AFTRA members pocketing $176 for 10 hours of ‘acting’.

The original movie, which was shot in Vancouver, received mixed critical reviews but was a commercial success, making $41.2 million (basically double in today’s money) at the worldwide box office from a budget of ‘only’ $12 million.

As well as Sandler, Christopher McDonald will return as star golfer (and ‘bad guy’) Shooter McGavin.

But Bob Barker, Gilmore’s celebrity golf partner, and Carl Weathers, who played his coach, both died recently, which means there will also be some new faces. Yours could be one of them. Better get practicing that golf swing.
