Harry Styles to perform at 2023 Grammy Awards
The Grammy winner and current nominee is set to perform at The 65th Annual Grammy Awards.
Harry Styles will perform at the 2023 Grammy Awards, which is set for Sunday, February 5.
The announcement was made during the fourth quarter of the AFC Championship game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the Kansas City Chiefs. The game aired on CBS, which has been home to the Grammys since 1973.
The Recording Academy announced its first set of performers back on Wednesday, January 25, and includes Lizzo, Bad Bunny, Mary J. Blige, Steve Lacy, Luke Combs, Brandi Carlile, Sam Smith, and Kim Petras.
All of the performers are nominated in the big four categories except for Sam Smith and Kim Petras, as their single wasn’t released in time to be eligible for the category. However, the song is registered for Best Pop Duo or Group Performance.
The big four categories are also called the general fields. These are the categories that are open to music from all genres and are considered the more significant awards. This includes the Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist.
This won’t be Styles’ first Grammy performance, as two years ago he performed his single, ‘Watermelon Sugar’, and won his first Grammy for the song in the Best Pop Solo Performance category.
Styles is nominated for six Grammy awards this year, including Album, Record, and Song of the Year, along with Songwriter of the Year, Best Pop Vocal Album, and Best Pop Solo Performance again.
This year is Styles’ first time being nominated for Album of the Year, Record, and Song of the Year.
Las Vegas residency rumors
While Styles’ Grammy performance is confirmed, he is also reportedly in talks to sign a Los Vegas residency deal. According to The Sun, Styles is currently discussing a £40 million deal (roughly $49 million) to perform a series of gigs in Los Vegas.
If confirmed, Styles would be performing at the MSG Sphere throughout 2024. The Sphere has a capacity of 17,500 and is reported as “the biggest and most expensive venue ever built in Vegas.”
It has already been confirmed that the band U2 will open the site, but the Sphere is looking to put together several big names for the opening.
Back in 2021, Harry Styles’ ‘Love on Tour’ sold the most concert tickets in the world that year, with a total of 669,051 tickets sold. Styles is still on tour today with the final date of ‘Love on Tour’ set for Saturday, July 22, 2023.
