Here’s what you can order at Mahomes and Kelce’s new KC steakhouse, 1587 Prime
The Chiefs stars are set to open a new Kansas City restaurant, having already held the eatery’s soft launch.
As NFL stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes prepare to open their new restaurant in downtown Kansas City, details are emerging of the “one-of-a-kind dining experience” being promised by the Chiefs duo.
Kelce and Mahomes are due to launch 1587 Prime Steakhouse on Wednesday, September 17, having already held the eatery’s soft opening.
“Picture-perfect soft launch”
Kelce was reportedly joined by pop-icon fiancée Taylor Swift at 1587 Prime last Monday, as he and Mahomes celebrated their restaurant’s preliminary inauguration alongside friends and family.
Per TMZ, Kelce and Swift spent the night “laughing with his teammates, trading quick kisses, and flashing smiles across the room whenever they drifted apart”. Sources said Swift was “funny, gracious, and approachable” throughout the event, which was described as a “picture-perfect soft launch”.
Taylor tipple on the 1587 Prime menu?
TMZ has also revealed that Swift has a signature cocktail on the 1587 Prime menu. Known as “Alchemy”, the drink is said to be a mixture of vodka, curaçao, aronia berry, cranberry, strawberry, lime and oolong.
Meanwhile, Kelce’s cocktail - “Big Yeti” - is reportedly a blend of bourbon, Bulleit Rye, nocino, demerara and bitters.
As detailed by the specialist food and drink website Delish, the menu also includes the “Kingdom Come” cocktail - tequila, mezcal, curaçao, absinthe, orange and pomegranate - and the “Showtime”, which features rum, coconut, coffee, Coors Light syrup and lime soda.
“Next-level”
As for the food on offer at 1587 Prime, Delish’s Megan Schaltegger reports that the steakhouse’s executive chef, Ryan Arnold, has created a “next-level” menu that includes “Japanese A5 NY strip, boneless ribeye, and a 40-ounce Wagyu Tomahawk served tableside”.
“Additional highlights include the Steak Tartare made with hand-cut wagyu, egg yolk, truffle aioli, crispy capers, and shallot with toasted sourdough, and the 1587 Twice-Baked Potato stacked with smoked gouda, creme fraîche, beef bacon, chives, and black truffle,” Schaltegger writes.
Kelce and Mahomes target “something special”
Kelce and Mahomes first announced their collaboration on 1587 Prime in March 2024, revealing that they have teamed up on the project with the hospitality group Noble 33.
“Travis and I have become frequent visitors of Noble 33 restaurants in other cities, so it only made sense to bring something special to our own community in Kansas City,” Mahomes told a press release. Kelce added: “We’re excited to be a part of this journey with Noble 33 to create a one-of-a-kind dining experience, and what better place to start than our very own, Kansas City.”
Located across two floors in the upmarket Loews Kansas City Hotel, the 10,000-square-foot restaurant will seek to bring “a modern twist to the classic American steakhouse”, says 1587 Prime’s website.
The venue’s name is a combination of Mahomes and Kelce’s Chiefs jersey numbers: the former wears 15 at Arrowhead Stadium, while the latter sports 87.
“Jaw-dropping meat display”
In their original press release, Mahomes and Kelce also noted: “1587 will boast multiple private dining rooms, a world-class chef’s kitchen, a jaw-dropping meat display, all with hyper-subtle nods to Patrick and Travis’ on-field accomplishments.
“The restaurant’s extensive wine collection, which will be one of the largest in the state, has been meticulously curated to complement the menu’s diverse offerings.”
As was revealed in a report by KMBC9’s Brian Johnson, the steakhouse will have a tunnel-style entrance that recreates the moment players step out onto the field at a football stadium.
When diners set foot inside the restaurant, Johnson also shared, they will immediately be greeted by the sight of the cuts of meat they’ll be able to choose from, hanging in refrigerated glass cabinets.
Kelce and Mahomes key to Chiefs championships
Drafted by the Chiefs in 2013 and 2017, respectively, Kelce and Mahomes have been integral to the NFL team’s period of immense success in recent years.
With the tight end and the quarterback in Kansas City’s ranks, the Missouri franchise has reached five of the last six Super Bowls, winning three of them.
However, Kelce and Mahomes’ Chiefs have endured a difficult start to the 2025 season. Sunday’s 20-17 Week 2 defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles left Andy Reid’s men with an 0-2 record - the first time Kansas City has lost its first two games of the regular season since 2014.
