OSCARS
How did Kate Hudson get bombshell waves for 2023 Oscars?
The hair stylist of the ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ actress reveals how he achieved the star’s classic Hollywood waves.
Kate Hudson graced the champagne-colored carpet at the 95th Academy Awards with long, flowing waves, parted in an old-Hollywood classic style.
Hudson’s hairstylist, Jacob Rozenberg, spilled the details on how he achieved the ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ star’s long, golden tresses and dramatic flair.
How Kate got her Oscars look
Kate Hudson already had her look in mind when she met Rozenberg at a Beverly Hills hotel before the 2023 Oscars on Sunday.
With her dress a classic, silver-sequined custom-made Rodarte mermaid gown, styled by Sophie Lopez, and accessorizing with Guiseppe Zanotti heels and Rahaminov jewels, Hudson knew her hair had to suit the elegant style of the dress – and Rozenberg had the exact same plan in mind.
“We saw the dress and knew we wanted to do something super classic and elegant,” Rozenberg said. “In truth, Kate was her own inspiration for this classic Hollywood wave; we had done a similar style previously and it was so gorgeous.”
“We knew we had to do a version of it again!” Rozenberg continued. “This time, we added a bit more wave to compliment the dress.”
“My goal was to make sure she walked out the door looking and feeling confident. She loved it!”
How Kate got the look
It all started with a bottle of champagne and a Fleetwood Mac playlist.
“The vibes in the room were great,” the hair stylist recalled. “We had a really great playlist going!”
Rozenberg washed Kate Hudson’s hair with Kerasilk Volumizing Shampoo and Foam Conditioner “to create the ideal foundation for a voluminous look,” and applied Kerasilk Treatment recovery hair mask to her wet hair for an extra boost.
After blow drying the ‘Knives Out: A Glass Onion Mystery’ actress’ hair with the Varis AirQ hair dryer and thick, ceramic bristle brush “to create maximum shape and style,” the stylist taped on 20-inch hair extensions tensions in a soft blonde hue called Soft Almond by Great Lengths.
Rozenberg used a special strategy for a super natural finish — rather than stacking the hair extensions as is commonly done, the hair artist applied them to the 43-year-old actress’ roots to achieve “a more cohesive look,” and then pro razored Hudson’s ends “to create an even more seamless blend with Kate’s hair.”
To finish off the classic, old-Hollywood waves, Rozenberg added heat protecting serum and ran a 1.5 inch Varis marcel curling wand through her hair. After a bit of Kerasilk Taming Balm “to smooth hair and give a silky soft finish,” the masterpiece was complete.
The whole process took three hours.
