Everything you need to know about the 2024 Oscars

Although in previous years some changes were introduced to lighten the time of the gala, in 2024, as happened in 2023, the awards for the 23 categories will be presented on site. The event will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, while each category will be presented by two internationally recognised personalities.

The event will start one hour earlier than usual to adjust to the time change that is set to affect the United States. Before the award ceremony, we will be able to see the Hollywood celebrities parade down the usual red carpet (this year it is back to its usual colour). After this ritual, the guests will go to the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles to enjoy the awards ceremony.

How long do the Oscars last?

The usual run time for the ceremony is about three and a half hours, from the time the host, in this case Jimmy Kimmel, begins with his first jokes to liven up the evening, until the Oscar for Best Picture is awarded, which is usually the last of the awards to be delivered.

This year, the big favourite is ‘Oppenheimer’, which is up for 13 awards, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor, Best Supporting Actress and Best Adapted Screenplay.

You can follow all the action before, during and after the Oscars live with AS USA. We’ve got a huge plan of action lined up just especially for the Oscar Weekend, so make sure to check it all out on the website!
