How does Ben Affleck really feel about Jennifer Lopez’s songs about him?
The ‘Air’ actor has confessed that he has some negative feelings about some of JLo’s lyrics.
Ben Affleck has confessed how he really feels about the many songs his superstar wife, Jennifer Lopez, has written about him — and released publicly — over the years, and he sometimes has negative feelings towards them.
Lopez has worn her heart on her sleeve when it comes to writing songs about her husband, Ben Affleck. For two decades, the ‘Jenny From the Block’ singer has been expressing her feelings about Affleck through her art, including ‘Dear Ben’ in 2002 and ‘Dear Ben Part 2′, which JLo released earlier in 2023.
JLo and Affleck were engaged in 2002 but broke up in 2004 — but they got back together in 2021 and married in 2022.
Ben Affleck gets real about JLo
Appearing on the ‘SmartLess’ podcast with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, Ben Affleck told his friends in a compliment sandwich that he had some negative feelings about the songs JLo had written about him.
“The songs that have been written about me have been written by the greatest performer in the history of the world, Jennifer Lopez,” Affleck said about his wife. “I don’t know if they are exactly about me, as maybe inspired by me because there are some negative things in there. She’s amazing.”
Still singing her praises
Despite his mixed feelings about his wife’s music as it pertains to him, Affleck had many positive things to say about Lopez. When asked about JLo’s appearances on sitcom ‘Will and Grace’ and her documentary, ‘Halftime’, Affleck said he was proud of all her accomplishments.
“It takes a big man not to feel inadequate in the face of my wife’s many, many accomplishments,” the actor said. “I don’t feel bad about myself.”
Affleck gushes some more about JLo
At the premiere for his new movie, ‘Air’, to which JLo accompanied him, Affleck said his wife is brilliant, and he loves working with her.
“She’s brilliant, and helps me in every conceivable way,” Affleck said. “What fun, what a joy to do something with her, see her be great, go to work with your wife, go to work with your best friend.”
“Because ultimately,” he continued, “your work becomes the lion’s share of what defines your life, in terms of the time you spend.”
“And if you don’t like who you’re working with, and if you have difficulty or trouble at work, I think it’s one of the things that can really cause depression, anxiety and pain for people.”
