How Lauren Sanchez managed to hide her engagement to Jeff Bezos for days

It looks as though Sanchez wanted to hide the news from paparazzi while in Spain.

Following news that Lauren Sanchez and Jeff Bezos are now engaged, it looks as though the former news anchor did her best to hide the news from paparazzi during their recent trip to Europe.

The pair arrived in Mallorca, Spain back on May 15, with TMZ reporting Bezos popped the question sometime over the following days, as it seems the couple were already engaged by May 17.

That’s because photos of the two aboard his $500 million super yacht from that day show Sanchez’s diamond facing the inside of her hand.

As a result, it wasn’t visible to paparazzi who were taking pictures of the couple.

It seems Sanchez wasn’t as intent on hiding the diamond by May 21, as news had reached her close circle of friends by that time.

That’s when Bezos and Sanchez were photographed as they arrived in Cannes, France, with the diamond ring clearly visible by that time.

Bezos and Sanchez’ relationship

Sanchez was in no mood to hide her ring during a dinner date at La Petite Maison on Monday night.

The former news anchor flashed the 20-carat ring to the paparazzi, with experts stating that it costs roughly $2.5 million.

The couple began dating back in 2018, though news of their relationship only began to filter out in 2019.

That’s because they kept a low profile as Bezos’ divorce from Mackenzie Bezos, his wife of 25 years, was being finalized. At the time, Sanchez was also still married to Patrick Whitesell.

Jeff and Mackenzie share a son together, 23-year-old Preston. Sanchez and Whitesell share two kids together, Ella, 15, and Evan, 16.

She also has a 22-year-old son Nikko with former NFL player Tony Gonzalez.

A source told Page Six that Sanchez is in line to make at least $1 million every year the couple remain together, and that she could also get a “multimillion-dollar residence.”

So far, there is no word on whether the couple plan to sign a prenuptial agreement.
