OSCARS 2024
How many 2024 Oscars has ‘Poor Things’ won, in what categories, what was its budget and where to see it?
Poor Things had a good night in the technical categories and landed one of the major awards, with Emma Stone taking Best Actress.
Poor Things, the film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos and written by Tony McNamara, based on the 1992 novel by Scottish writer Alasdair Gray, had a decent night at the Oscars, picking up four Oscars. It was nominated for 11 Awards, including Best Picture.
The first three came early on, and in a row, in the technical categories, with wins for Best Makeup and Hairstyling (Nadia Stacey, Mark Coulier, and Josh Weston), Best Production Design (Production Design: James Price and Shona Heath; Set Decoration: Zsuzsa Mihalek) and Best Costume Design (Holly Waddington)
The film’s big win came with Emma Stone taking Best Actress, a triumph that wasn’t unexpected, although many had thought Lily Gladstone, for her role in Killers of the Flower Moon, had a fine chance to become the first Native American to win the award.
The categories it was nominated in but didn’t win were:
Best Picture - Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Yorgos Lanthimos and Emma Stone
Best Director - Yorgos Lanthimos
Best Supporting Actor - Mark Ruffalo
Best Adapted Screenplay - Tony McNamara
Best Original Score - Jerskin Hendrix
Best Cinematography - Robbie Ryan
Best Film Editing - Yorgos Mavropsaridis
Poor Things budget
