How much is ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ expected to make?

‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ was released in 2018 and introduced Miles Morales to the big screen. The film gained widespread recognition for its innovative animation style and for breathing new life into Spider-Man, even taking home the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.

Now, there are only a few days left until its highly anticipated sequel ‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ is released in theaters.

Initial projections predict that the movie will pull in $80 million during its first weekend, while rival studios suggest it can bring in $90 million or more. This would be a remarkable increase from the first film, which debuted with $35.4 million.

First reactions to the film

So far, first reactions to the film are overwhelmingly positive.

“OK. #SpiderManAcrossTheSpiderVerse lives one step above Masterpiece,” said Sean O’Connell from CinemaBlend. “It’s an actual work of art. Every frame deserves to be hung in a museum.

“The jokes and nods to Spidey lore are perfect. It’s OUTSTANDING. The best #SpiderMan movie. Might be my favorite movie ever. Cherish it.”

“#SpiderManAcrossTheSpiderVerse is yet another resounding win for the Lord Miller-produced universe,” said Brian Davids from THR. “Hailee Steinfeld really comes into her own as Gwen Stacy, and her scenes with Shea Whigham’s Captain Stacy are truly special.

“It’s darker and sadder than I expected, but necessary.”

“Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse raised the bar with its unique animation style & way of storytelling,” said Tessa Smith from RottenTomatoes. “Minds were blown when it was released & fans thought there was no way it could be topped. Think again. #SpiderManAcrossTheSpiderVerse raises its own bar which seemed impossible.

“There are shocking twists, unexpected surprises, and a story that truly makes sense for the crazy multiverse world that we have all jumped head first in to. The new Spider-People are all amazing! Across the Spider-Verse never feels it’s length.”

‘Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’ releases in theaters June 2.
