After two years of marriage, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are splitting up. According to documents obtained by TMZ, Lopez filed for divorce on August 20, on what would have been their second wedding anniversary.

JLo filed the complaint herself without her lawyers in a Los Angeles County Superior Court, California, citing April 26 of this year as the date of separation. The divorce petition does not specify any type of prenuptial agreement, but a source close to the couple has said one was never signed, which suggests a complication for the finances of both personalities.

By not signing a prenuptial agreement, all income and/or property accumulated during the marriage becomes the property of both spouses, regardless of who earned it. This also applies to debts.

Since they tied the knot, Lopez has increased her net worth to $400 million thanks to her starring roles in various films, such as “Shotgun Wedding,” “The Mother,” “This Is Me… Now” and “Atlas”. Affleck boosted his fortune to $150 million after his participation in “Air” and “Hypnotic,” in addition to producing “The Instigators” and “The Accountant 2″.

The couple also purchased a lavish Beverly Hills mansion for $60 million, which has already been put on the market for $68 million.

The 38,000-square-foot property features 12 bedrooms and 24 bathrooms, as well as a guest penthouse, a caretaker’s cottage, a two-bedroom guardhouse, a 12-car garage and parking available for up to 80 vehicles.

That said, the celebrities are expected to keep their own earnings, so only the proceeds from the sale of the jointly purchased home will be split. Lopez, meanwhile, has waived spousal support and asked a judge to deny any similar claim from Affleck.
