If ‘Lost’’s finale sparked debate, ‘Game of Thrones’’ ending ignited a firestorm
A new, AI-generated version features an ending that left fans unimpressed - too cheerful for a saga that has a dark side.

If the finale of Lost stirred controversy, the ending of Game of Thrones triggered an equally intense backlash among fans. Sophie Turner — who played Sansa Stark — recently admitted she was one of the few cast members actually satisfied with how her character’s story wrapped up.
But in the age of AI, some viewers believe they can craft better endings than the professionals. Are they right?
HBO gave us the ending they wanted. Fans never accepted it.

Now Seedance 2.0 used AI to create the ending we deserved. Say what you will about AI, but this is what it's capable of.#GameofThrones pic.twitter.com/cLOPDpQSAK
AI software reimagines the Game of Thrones finale
Seedance 2.0, a tool developed by Chinese tech giant ByteDance, has been making headlines thanks to a viral AI‑generated video showing Tom Cruise fighting Brad Pitt. Hollywood has reacted with a mix of fascination and alarm — and the debate is only growing louder.
Now, the same technology has been used to create an alternate ending for Game of Thrones.
A too‑perfect ending for Westeros
In this AI‑generated version, Daenerys Targaryen returns triumphant as the rightful queen of the Seven Kingdoms. Not only does she survive the war, but she continues her romance with Jon Snow, who is crowned king at her side. From the Red Keep, Daenerys proudly holds their newborn child.
It’s a glossy, feel‑good finale — and that’s exactly the problem.
For starters, it’s far too cheerful for the brutal world of A Song of Ice and Fire, where victories rarely come without devastating consequences. On top of that, the idea of Daenerys having a child contradicts her own repeated claim that her only “children” are her dragons.
And the AI version doesn’t bother to address what happens to the rest of the main characters, leaving major storylines unresolved.
