Jack Black wants Pedro Pascal in the “Super Mario Bros.’ sequel

‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ has been a huge success since its release earlier this week. The highly anticipated adaptation of the video game that follows the iconic Italian plumber duo has already solidified itself as the highest-grossing debut for an Illumination film.

With the major box office success of ‘Super Mario Bros.’ underway the cast of the film has begun to weigh in on a potential sequel to the first movie. Jack Black, who plays Bowser in the new animated hit film, already has a potential actor in mind for the potential sequels.

While speaking to GameSpot, Black explained how he isn’t entirely convinced his character would be back for a sequel. He goes on to use his previous experience in ‘Kung Fu Panda’ as evidence for his claim.

“It’s not a given that Bowser will return. You know, I did a few Kung Fu Panda movies, and it was a different villain every movie. They may do the same thing,” Black said.

“You know, what if there is a more powerful, more evil villain? Then I may need to be turned to help Mario and the rest to defend our universe against some other unseen force of evil.

“Are you thinking what I’m thinking? Wario. Pedro Pascal is Wario.”

Pedro has yet to comment on the idea, but has had an incredibly busy year of acting. Just in 2023 alone, he acted in the HBO hit series ‘The Last of Us’ and longtime running Disney+ series ‘The Mandalorian.’

The sequel to ‘Super Mario Bros’ has yet to be confirmed, but early box office results and a post-credit scene in the movie seemingly hint that there will be more than one installment of the film.

Hit song ‘Peaches’

Gamestop also asked Black about his Bowser-themed song ‘Peaches,’ which has already made it to the top 100 of the iTunes chart after its release on the official movie soundtrack. To celebrate the film’s opening weekend, Black also released a music video where he dresses up as Bowser and sings his ballad while playing on the piano.

“I don’t even know what you’re talking about. I assume you’re talking about a song?” he replied joking with Gamestop.

“I cannot confirm nor deny that there is a Bowser song. I hope there is. I love songs. But I don’t know if there’s a Bowser song. I haven’t seen the movie. But I will say this: I’m looking very much forward to seeing the movie and finding out if there is one of the greatest songs ever in a movie.”
