Jake Paul jokes Drake’s $400k bet cursed him against Tommy Fury

Jake Paul joked he was cursed by Drake betting $400,000 on him to beat Tommy Fury in their highly anticipated boxing match on Sunday. Paul was ultimately defeated by Fury in a split decision after both fighters had points deducted.

The Canadian rapper would have taken home a total of $1.4 million if Paul had won. Instead, he lost the $400,000 he initially bet on his friend’s match. Speaking at the post-fight press conference, Paul commented on his friend’s massive bet.

The “Drake Curse”

“F***! This is Drake’s fault!” Paul said, laughing. “Drake, bro, why did you do this to me?”

“No, it’s my fault, $400,000 is nothing to him - he has won a lot more money betting on me before. He’s probably about even now. Sorry, Drake, I’ll get that W in the rematch,” Paul said.

Drake announced his big bet on Instagram earlier on Sunday. He shared a screenshot of his bets in the Stake app, a platform for crypto casino and sports betting, along with the cryptic caption, “Knock Knock @stake.”

The post shows that the rapper’s total stake was $400,000 and the potential payout was $1,440,000. Unfortunately, his faith in his friend’s winning odds did not pay off for the Canadian rapper.

Drake’s betting history

Drake’s known for his large bets on famous sporting events, and he routinely shares his predictions leading up to them. However, Drake’s gambling selections are often mocked by fans due to his frequent losing picks.

The ‘Started From The Bottom’ singer bet $1 million on Argentina to beat France in the World Cup Final in December. Although Argentina won the game in a penalty shootout, Drake lost the bet because he needed them to win the match in regulation time.

In November, he also placed a $2 million bet on Israel Adesanya to win at UFC 281 over Alex Pereira. Pereira ended up winning in the fourth round by a knockout.

However, the ‘Drake Curse’ ended earlier this year, with Drake’s various Super Bowl bets winning him a total of $1.477 million, but only $512,000 in overall profits.
