Jamie Lee Curtis has received widespread praise for her role as Deirdre Beaubeirdre in ‘Everything Everywhere All at Once.’

Her performance has led her to be nominated for several awards including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress, which is a nomination her mother, Janet Leigh, once received.

“You know, I didn’t think about that,” Curtis told People at the Independent Spirit Awards. “I mean, I knew it, I was aware of it. I never thought that would happen.

“Like my parents and their fame and their stardom was so legendary that I’ve never felt like I would be anywhere near the level,” she added. “It’s a beautiful link. It’s a lineage link.”

A family of actors

Janet Leigh was an actress, singer, dancer and author. She was known for starring in films like ‘Psycho’, ‘Little Women’, ‘Angels in the Outfield’, ‘Scaramouche’, ‘Holiday Affair’ and ‘The Manchurian Candidate’ among other titles.

She was nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category nearly 60 years ago for her role as Marion Crane in Alfred Hitchcock’s 1960 psychological thriller ‘Psycho’.

Leigh passed away in October 2004.

Curtis’ father, Tony Curtis, was also a successful actor. He was featured in a myriad of films including ‘Sweet Smell of Success’, ‘Some Like it Hot’, ‘The Defiant Ones’, ‘Spartacus’, ‘Operation Petticoat’ and ‘Insignificance’.

He also received an Academy Award nomination, but in the Best Actor category for his work in ‘The Defiant Ones’.

Tony Curtis passed away in September 2010.

Curtis on honoring her parents

Now, yes, I have my own legacy and my own life,” Curtis said. “But my life, which is my real life, and the fantasy life of showoff business, is not something that I sort of pay attention to.”

“Certainly at the SAG Awards, I thought of my parents,” she added. “There they were. I wore the ring that my dad gave my mom. I found it in a drawer, and I thought ‘I’m going to wear my parents’ wedding ring to the SAG Awards.’

“They were SAG members. It was beautiful.”
