Following the success of the 2019 film ‘Murder Mystery’, the sequel starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler will hit Netflix in March.

Update:
Following the success of the 2019 film ‘Murder Mystery’, the sequel starring Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler will hit Netflix in March.

Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler are headed to Paris to solve another case after the first official trailer for ‘Murder Mystery 2′ was released on Monday.

The movie is directed by Jeremy Garelick and is a sequel to the 2019 comedy, which was Netflix’s most popular movie of the year. The original saw Nick (Sandler) and Audrey (Aniston) join a billionaire they had just met while en route to Europe for a yacht party, only for their adventure to take several deadly turns.

The sequel, which comes out on Netflix on March 31, picks up four years later with former NYPD officer Nick and ex-hairdresser Audrey now full-time detectives.

Unfortunately for them, their private eye agency is struggling to get off the ground when they get a wedding invite from friend the Maharaja (played by Adeel Akhtar) on his private island.

They’re thrown into another action-packed adventure when the Maharaja is kidnapped.

The movie’s cast also includes Mark Strong, Mélanie Laurent, Jodie Turner-Smith, John Kani, Kuhoo Verma, Enrique Arce, Zurin Villanueva, Tony Goldwyn, Annie Mumolo and Dany Boon.

Aniston also joined in on the fun, posting the trailer to her Instagram account with the caption: “We’re baa-aack…..March 31!!”

Aniston said filming was challenging

In an interview with People in June 2022, Aniston said that filming the movie in Paris was challenging for her given how close they were to the war in Ukraine.

“It was three months away from home,” said Aniston. “And that was challenging, only because I hadn’t been away from my dogs since the [beginning of the] pandemic. Also, Ukraine was a stone’s throw away.

“I reminded myself that this is what people need. People want to laugh. People need comedies. People like to not think for a minute.”

She also said that after going through the pandemic, she has learned to slow down and no longer “sweat the small stuff.”

“What the last couple of years has taught us all is that you can’t sweat the small stuff, grateful for every single day,” she added.

“It was good to slow down and be able to say, ‘I’m going to take two months and digest what I just did and think about what’s going to be next.’”

‘Murder Mystery 2′ will be available on Netflix on March 31.
