Jennifer Hudson belted out ‘Greatest Love of All’ at the Clive Davis Gala at the Beverly Hilton hotel in honor of the late Whitney Houston. The Beverly Hilton is the same hotel where Houston tragically died in 2012.

To commemorate the 11th anniversary of the legend’s passing, Clive Davis arranged a moment of silence to remember the singer.

Jennifer Hudson later joined actor Kevin Costner and producer Clive Davis, who were also there to pay tribute to Houston, on stage to perform the song after Costner had finished his speech.

When news of Houston’s death broke just hours before the 2012 Grammy Awards, Jennifer Hudson managed to prepare an incredible tribute for the singer at the awards ceremony that evening.

Hudson sang ‘I Will Always Love You’, stirring the audience who were still coming to terms with the death of the music industry legend.

To honor Whitney Houston

Costner said some words to honor Houston, remembering how he and Davis were struck by the star when they first met her, and that she was an integral part to their project at the time, which involved Dolly Parton.

“We were both struck by Whitney the first time we first met her,” Costner said.

“Whitney would be our common ground, and from that moment we all worked as one collective,” Costner continued, reflecting on the time Houston sang Dolly Parton’s ‘I Will Always Love You’.

Costner remarked that it was an incredibly powerful experience, and that they were able to focus and get the work done with Houston’s charisma.

“So powerful that for one moment in time the entire world seemed focused on this one country song,” the actor said. “Whitney had become the most celebrated singer of her generation.”
