Jessica Chastain had a moment at the SAG Awards 2023 while walking up to the stage to accept an award.

The actress took home the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Limited Series for her role in ‘George & Tammy’ on Sunday night.

Chastain played country singer Tammy Wynette on the show.

Chastain takes a tumble

When Chastain was called to the stage to accept the award, she tripped while walking up the steps.

She made a quick recovery though and was helped up the steps by Paul Mescal and a few other gentlemen.

The tumble didn’t actually air on the telecast, but several cameras managed to catch the moment when Chastain tripped on her taffeta Zuhair Murad dress.

After regaining her composure, Chastain happily accepted the honor.

“It reminds me of when I was in college Philip Seymour Hoffman came to speak to my class and he told us all of his frustrating stories about auditions and he encouraged us to keep going even if it felt like no one was watching us,” she said during her acceptance speech

“And at the end of the talk, he said, ‘I look forward to working with each of you’, and it really shocked me because it was like he brought it into being.

“A few years later it became true when I had the opportunity to do a play with him and I’m telling this story now because it reminds me of how powerful our mind is.”

Chastain concluded by sharing a few words for those actors that struggling, telling them they are one role away from leaving their mark.

“So, I just want to tell everyone who might be struggling at home, to all the actors that I get to meet, keep going, you’re one job away,” Chastain said. “I look forward to working with you. I’ll see you on set, and I love you. Thank you so much.”
