‘John Wick 4′ was released in global theaters Wednesday, and it is already a box office hit. The film hit theaters in Australia, New Zealand, and Latin America, as well as some selected preview showings in the US.

The fourth episode in Keanu Reeves’ action-packed assassin thriller franchise is set to be the most critically acclaimed film yet.

After its release for preview in the United States Thursday, ‘John Wick 4′ is already at a franchise best with $8 million in sales so far.

‘John Wick 4′ ticket sales

Australia and New Zealand viewers brought in an estimated $3.9M for its Wednesday and Thursday screenings.

The film hit Latin America as well, with its previews making $994 thousand. Brazil and Mexico led the market with $328K and $240K respectively. About 60 percent of theaters in Latin America previewed ‘John Wick 4′.

Previews of the movie were also held in Berlin and Paris.

Germany grossed about $635K for its Wednesday showings, 40 percent higher than ‘John Wick: Chapter 3′, with numbers to be released from the Thursday showings in more than 800 theaters nationwide.

France premiered the movie on 557 screens and it grossed $543K.

The big weekend ahead

‘John Wick 4′ will be featured in 71 international box office markets over the weekend, which is another best-yet record for the franchise.

The ‘John Wick’ films have previously been released in increments around the world, rather than hit theaters worldwide all in one weekend.

The predictions for global sales for the weekend ahead are $115 million in total, with $45 million coming from international markets.

‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum’ grossed $36.9 million domestically upon its release in 2019 and $93.75 million globally, which set a record for the franchise — however, unlike ‘John Wick 4′, the third installment did not open in Germany, France, or Spain with it’s US release.
