Jonathan Majors’ lawyer claims his innocence following alleged assault
Majors’ lawyer claims to have evidence that will prove the actor’s innocence.
Jonathan Majors was arrested on Saturday, March 25 and faces charges of assault, strangulation and harassment. The New York Police Department described the incident as a “domestic dispute”.
While Majors claimed his innocence since the time of his arrest, his lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, recently stated that there is evidence to suggest that Majors was the victim in the situation.
“Jonathan Majors is completely innocent and is provably the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows,” Chaudhry said. “We are quickly gathering and presenting evidence to the District Attorney with the expectation that all charges will be dropped imminently.”
The unnamed woman, 30-years-old, was taken to the hospital with “minor injuries to her head and neck”. Chaudhry goes on to explain that the woman’s injuries were sustained following an “emotional crisis”.
“All the evidence proves that Mr. Majors is entirely innocent and did not assault her whatsoever,” she said. “Unfortunately, this incident came about because this woman was having an emotional crisis, for which she was taken to a hospital yesterday.
“The NYPD is required to make an arrest in these situations, and this is the only reason Mr. Majors was arrested. We expect these charges to be dropped soon,” Chaudhry concluded.
Majors on the rise
If found guilty, Majors’ career will be in serious trouble.
Recently, he found critical acclaim for his role as Kang the Conqueror in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’. While the movie received scathing reviews, Majors’ performance was praised as being the best part of the film by far.
Kang is meant to be the new big bad of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with power that rivals even Thanos. The character is already scheduled to appear in two more MCU movies: ‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’.
Majors also had a pivotal role in ‘Creed III’ which smashed box office records. He played the antagonist, Damian Anderson, opposite Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis Creed.
