It seems like ‘Dancing with the Stars’ has found a new host in Julianne Hough, after model Tyra Banks announced that she would be leaving the show for the upcoming season, saying that she wants to focus on other business ventures.

Hough will come in for season 32, joining Alfonso Ribeiro as co-host. Hough, a professional dancer herself, previously appeared on the show as a dancer, winning seasons four and five of the show.

Hough’s history as a ‘Dancing with the Stars’ winner

The official Twitter account for the show made the announcement on Monday that the professional dancer will be hosting the upcoming season of the dance competition.

“It is such an honor to be rejoining ‘Dancing with the Stars’ as co-host,” Hough told Variety.

“The show holds such a special place in my heart from the many years and different roles I have had the privilege of being a part of,” Hough said in regard to previously performing in seasons 4 to 8.

She won season four with dance partner, Olympic gold medal speed skater Apolo Ohno, and season five with Hélio Castroneves, a Brazilian auto racing driver. For season six, she came in ninth with partner Adam Carolla. During her season seven appearance, she had to miss several rehearsals after having her appendix removed, ultimately coming in fourth for the season with Cody Linley.

In her last season on the show, season eight, she came in sixth place with dance partner Chuck Wicks.

The incredible team that brings the ballroom to life every night has been my family for the past 17 years. I am so excited to reunite with Alfonso, Carrie Ann, Bruno, Derek, the unbelievably talented pros, and the amazing cast on the dance floor.

The energy is magnetic every time you step foot in to the ballroom and I can’t wait to feel it again — and of course to share it all with the absolute best and most loyal fans — for another exciting season.”

New changes for ‘Dancing with the Stars’

Along with Hough becoming the show’s new co-host, the show has changed streaming platforms when Disney+ took over the streaming of the show.

ABC decided to move the show to the streaming platform beginning in 2022, presumably because of its larger audience and ability to stream simultaneously around the world.
