Keanu Reeves and Alexandra Grant clear the air about wedding rumors: “Here’s the reality”
Rumors started to swirl that the couple had secretly tied the knot Grant shared an intimate photograph on social media.
In today’s instant world of social media, information is spread so quickly that there is no time to verify how much truth there is in what’s posted online. Then there users who love nothing more than a juicy conspiracy - decoding hidden or cryptic messages, unraveling Taylor’s ‘Easter eggs’... All in all, it’s a recipe for fake news to circulate.
So when Alexandra Grant published a photograph of herself and partner Keanu Reeves holding hands and kissing at the bottom of the steps of the East Portal at Roden Crater in Flagstaff, Arizona... some followers believed it could only mean one thing - had the couple secretly married?
A kiss is just a kiss
Alexandra was quick to put the record straight with another post: “This is a real photo. Not an engagement photo or an AI wedding announcement... simply a kiss! (Albeit maybe the moment right before or after it... given the slightly goofy expressions on our faces!). We’re at Roden Crater, and Keanu and Gard had just finished interviewing James Turrell for Visionaries.”

Except we didn’t get married. Good news is much needed these days, but it’s still fake news, so be careful out there! So, here’s a bit of real happiness!"
Just a few days later, a representative for Reeves also denied the wedding rumors, telling PEOPLE, “It is not true. They are not married.”
Keanu breaks his silence at film premiere
And just to make sure no one was in any doubt, Reeves told reporters that while both he and Alexandra were touched by the fans’ response, they haven’t wed.
“Well, it’s not the first time. We’ve been together a long time,” Reeves said at the New York premiere of his latest film, When Heaven Gets It Wrong. “The wedding thing was sweet. A lot of people sent lovely messages and stuff like that, but Alexandra handled it beautifully, saying something like, ‘Thanks, but here’s the reality.’”
When Keanu met Alexandra
Keanu generally keeps his personal life out of the limelight, keeping his acting and personal life separate and living a low-key life. He and Alexandra have been dating for several years but only went public in 2019.
The couple were seen holding hands on the red carpet at the 2019 Los Angeles County Museum of Art’s annual Art+Film Gala.
The two became friends after meeting in 2009 at a party. Grant is credited with helping Reeves with his adult picture book ‘Ode to Happiness’ published in 2011 and featuring drawings done by Grant. Originally, the book was to be a gift for Reeves, until they decided to publish it due to their friend’s insistence.
Later, Reeves posed for Grant for their collaborative photo book ‘Shadows’ published in 2016, which “explores the real and symbolic nature of the shadow as image and figure of speech”, and includes bits of poetry.
