Lana Del Rey officially releases ‘Say Yes to Heaven’

Lana Del Rey may have released her latest album, ‘Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd’ just two months ago, but the singer is already releasing new music to the delight of fans.

Del Rey has officially released ‘Say Yes to Heaven’, a track that was written in 2012 by Del Rey and Rick Nowels.

Portions of the song were leaked in 2016, and a full leak of the track was released in 2020. A demo version of the song for the 2015 album ‘Honeymoon’ was later leaked in 2021.

The leaked versions of the song became popular on TikTok, shared amongst fans who called for an official release of the beloved song.

And Del Rey made her fan’s wish come true when she released the song in full at midnight on Friday, May 19.

A rework of a fan-favorite song

The official version of ‘Say Yes to Heaven’ captures the same mood as the leaked versions, but differs in parts in the final arrangement.

Where the leaked versions feature a reverb guitar, the official version more heavily features an electric guitar driving the song.

Del Rey also included a sped-up version of the song in the single release, a reference to the TikTok tradition of speeding up hit songs.

‘Say Yes to Heaven’ is the latest single released by Del Rey after releasing an official video for the song ‘Candy Necklace’ featuring Jon Batiste over a week ago.

She has so far released ‘Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd’, ‘A&W’ and ‘The Grants’ as official singles from the new album.

Del Rey was most recently awarded the inaugural Visionary Award at the Billboard Women in Music Awards, in recognition of her 14 years in the music industry, making her breakthrough with her first major album ‘Born to Die’.

“I think the word ‘visionary’ could have been exchanged with any word when you’re up here. But if you were wondering, for my fans, I don’t exactly have a long-term vision, at all. But if you were curious, I am very, very happy to be a female singer, that is a wonderful feat,” she said in her acceptance speech.

“When I released my first album 14 years ago, the waters were not quite as warm. So I’m really happy for everyone who feels like it’s a wonderful time in the culture to be themselves and to express themselves.

“It didn’t feel that way in 2008 and I’m so grateful to be in the best company I’ve ever been in. Thank you. I feel like being happy is the ultimate. So I did it.”
