‘Last of Us’ star Pedro Pascal doesn’t think he’d survive a zombie apocalypse

HBO’s latest hit show is making waves after a stellar debut that was watched by 4.7 million viewers in the USA.

‘Last of Us’ star Pedro Pascal doesn’t think he’d survive a zombie apocalypse

Although Pedro Pascal is doing what he can to survive in ‘The Last of Us’, the actor admits he wouldn’t last very long in a real zombie apocalypse.

The show, a post-apocalyptic zombie series based on the video game of the same name, has garnered positive reviews since making its debut on Jan.15 2023. It was HBO’s second-largest premiere since Boardwalk Empire in 2010, garnering 4.7 million U.S viewers, with only ‘House of the Dragon’ attracting more viewers.

In fact, 10 million people tuned into the drama in the first two days, marking another successful project for Pascal, who will reprise his role as Din Djarin in ‘The Mandalorian’ when the series returns for Season 3 on March 1.

Although Pascal’s character on ‘Last of Us’, has proven adept at surviving following the collapse of society, the actor admits he wouldn’t be as successful in real life.

“I would last 30 seconds,” he said when speaking to Extra. “I would drive off that cliff.”

In the show, Pascal is tasked with escorting Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey, across the United States, and he says that the lack of familiarity between the two actors mirrored their characters.

“We were shy about everything at the start and I think it was the perfect kind of parallel tone to the characters refusing to register one another,” said Pascal.

What Pascal liked about the project

Fans of the game already know the importance of the relationship between Joel and Ellie, and Pascal says that the way the show deviates from expectations is something that drew him to the project.

“The way that [The Last of Us] departs from what people’s expectations may be, knowing the game very well, is what I loved the most,” Pascal told Entertainment Weekly. “And the way that things sing around the central relationship of Ellie and Joel, and somehow directly affecting our journey and our arc but also the audience’s experience of the whole piece.”

Where to watch The Last of Us

HBO are reportedly spending between $10-15 million per episode of ‘The Last of Us’, showing that the network isn’t holding back when it comes to their latest venture.

‘The Last of Us’ can be watched every Sunday exclusively on HBO and HBO Max. The first season will have nine episodes and feature the likes of Nico Parker, John Hannah, Merle Dandridge, Josh Bremer, Anna Tov, Gabriel Luna and more.
