Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter welcomes her own child, announces it at mom’s memorial
Riley Keough and husband Ben-Smith Peterson revealed they have a daughter, but didn’t provide specifics on her name or when she was born.
Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter, Riley Keough, now has a daughter of her own, as she revealed alongside husband Ben Smith-Petersen, at Lisa Marie’s memorial service.
The service was held at the Presley family mansion in Graceland on January 22 and drew a significant crowd of people who came to mourn and pay tribute. Lisa Marie Presley died on January 12 at age 54.
Ben Smith-Peterson read a statement prepared by Keough.
“I remember how safe it felt to be in your arms. I remember that feeling as a child, and I remember it two weeks ago on your couch,” he read on behalf of his wife. “Thank you for showing me that love is the only thing that matters in this life. I hope I can love my daughter the way you loved me.”
Lisa Marie Presley’s memorial service
Mother Priscilla Presley spoke at the service, openly displaying her grief.
“Our heart is broken, Lisa,” Priscilla wept. “We all love you.”
Lisa Marie’s friend, Sarah Ferguson, sometimes known as ‘Fergie’, spoke as well, sharing how she is grieving over losing her “sissy” and quoting Queen Elizabeth II: “‘Grief is the price we pay for love.”
During her tribute, the duchess addressed Lisa Marie’s daughters directly.
“We march forward in support of you,” she encouraged them. “All of us are with you.”
Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses, Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins, and Alanis Morissette all sang a tribute.
Paying tribute to Lisa Marie Presley
In a tribute to Lisa Marie, Keough shared a beautiful old black-and-white photo from her childhood, gazing up at her mother and holding a bouquet of flowers to her Instagram.
Fans were widely moved by the post, replying with comments like: “I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. May all of the wonderful memories of your mama help you through these difficult times,” and “A touching reminder above the celebrity, above the fame, this is a mother who left too soon. So sorry.”
What happened to Lisa Marie Presley?
It was Lisa Marie Presley’s mother, Priscilla Presley, who announced her death on January 12.
“It is with a heavy heart that I must share the devastating news that my beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” she wrote. “She was the most passionate, strong and loving woman I have ever known.”
Lisa Marie was taken to the hospital several hours before her death, with the cause of death still unknown.
