Lizzo attends pre-Met Gala dinner despite previously dissing the event
The singer attended Anna Wintour’s pre-gala dinner after slamming last year’s gala.
Lizzo was spotted attending Anna Wintour’s pre-Met Gala dinner last night, despite her harsh criticism of the event following last year’s gala. The singer was seen heading to Wintour’s private residency in a stunning purple gown.
The gown was constructed on sheer purple fabric with a thigh slit. She accessorized with purple sunglasses, oversized hoop earrings, and a pair of silver strappy sandals.
The singer looked content to receive the invite despite dissing the event on an Instagram live video shortly after. Her main critiques were regarding the alcohol and long lines she had to wait in.
What did Lizzo say about previous Met Galas?
“There’s a long f***ing line. I’m taking the glamour away from it but it’s true. You’ve gotta wait,” she explained. “So you’re waiting and that’s the hardest part. I was sweating in a big-ass coat, my feet were hurting.”
She continued, “They don’t have no chairs, no cocktails. I was like, “B***h? Can we get some chairs or some drinks or some hors d’oeuvres?”.”
Once inside, Lizzo was disappointed with the choices of alcohol offered when the waiter informed her they only had red or white wine for the night.
“They were being really stingy with the liquor that night. He was like, Red or white wine?. And I was like, Tequila! Do you know what I’ve been through? Do you know how many hours I’ve been in this corset? How long I’ve been in these damn shoes? Tequila!”
Despite her suggestions for future galas, Lizzo went on to admit she had a good time at the event and compared it to a prom.
“This is like prom for celebrities . . . My prom f***ing sucked. Now I feel like the Grammys and the Met Ball, they’re like my prom.”
How many times has Lizzo attended The Met Gala?
Lizzo has attended two Met Galas so far after making her gala debut in 2021. The theme of the 2021 Met Gala was “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” and Lizzo wore a stunning, Old Hollywood-inspired ensemble by Moschino that paid homage to the iconic American actress, Marilyn Monroe.
Lizzo’s ensemble featured a pink feather boa, a pink satin gown with a thigh-high slit, and a jeweled clutch bag with the word “VOTE” emblazoned on it. Her hair and makeup were also styled in a glamorous, retro-inspired look that complemented the overall aesthetic of her outfit.
