Lizzo has surprised her fans after announcing that she is “resigning.” This bombshell dropped after she was on the receiving end of severe criticism after facing legal problems and lawsuits.

The About Damn Time singer took to her social media this weekend to share a heartfelt message: “I’m getting tired of putting up with being dragged by everyone in my life and on the internet.

“All I want is to make music and make people happy and help make the world a little better than I found it. But I’m starting to feel like the world doesn’t want me in it,” she wrote.

“I am constantly up against lies being told about me for clout and views... being the butt of the joke every single time because of how I look... my character being picked apart by people who don’t know me and disrespecting my name. I didn’t sign up for this shit... I QUIT.

Lizzo facing accusations

In August 2023, singer Lizzo found herself in a legal dispute, after three of her former dancers sued her for sexual and racial harassment, as well as creating a hostile work environment. According to legal documents, the lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court against the singer, whose real name is Melissa Jefferson. Additionally, the lawsuit included her producer, Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc, as well as Lizzo’s dance team captain, Shirlene Quigley.

In one allegation, the lawsuit claims that Lizzo pressured dancers into attending a sex show in Amsterdam’s famous Red Light District and then pressured them to interact with the performers. The lawsuit also details alleged outbursts by Lizzo, including an “excruciating re-audition” in April after she accused dancers of “drinking alcohol before shows”;

One dancer claimed the ordeal lasted so long that she wet herself because she feared she would be fired if she left the stage. The case also claims that Lizzo repeatedly told dancers that “none of their jobs were safe” and raised “concerns” about a dancer’s weight gain. The dancers also claimed that they faced racial harassment from BGBT management, who they allege “treated black members of the dance team differently than other members.”

Lizzo denied the claims in a response shared on X (formerly Twitter), calling them “false accusations” and “sensational stories.” Just a week ago, Lizzo took to Instagram to reveal that she’s working on a new music project.
