Maluma and Marc Anthony put on an exciting performance at Premio Lo Nuestro

After winning Tropical Album of the Year, the Puerto Rican salsa star Marc Anthony quickly took to the stage with Colombian singer Maluma to perform a lively rendition of their song ‘La Fórmula’ at Thursday’s Premio Lo Nuestro Award show.

Fans eagerly awaited the duo to perform their hit song, and they delivered a memorable performance.

A much-anticipated performance

Maluma set the scene sitting at a table surrounded by beautiful women, wearing a red corduroy suit jacket, and smoking a cigar before everything turned black and white.

He then broke into the song’s lyrics, singing the emotional lyrics about lost love before Anthony came out on stage, singing the chorus with the music instantly becoming salsa and everything returning to color.

The two singers then danced to the music and got the audience dancing as well.

The song’s lyrics describe how there is no formula to follow to forget an old love, and how no matter how hard the singer tries, they get further away from doing so while maintaining a sense of hope that they will get back together.

A change of genres for Maluma

Both Maluma and Anthony produced the hit song, along with Edgar Barrera, Rude Boyz, and Sergio George.

The song marks a genre change for Maluma, straying from his usual reggaeton/Latin trap stylings, and venturing into salsa with Anthony.

Maluma describes the song as a “love song, but at the same time, a song about asking for forgiveness or going back to each other because there’s still love,” The singer said in an article by EFE.

“Marc and I have a great friendship, every time we get together, we just want to make music, sing and dance,” he added.

The new song comes after Maluma and Anthony remixed Maluma’s song ‘Felices los 4′ into a salsa rendition in 2017.
